Tanning hides with bran flakes

I have egg tanned and brain tanned all my hides in the past.  I was looking around the internet and found a way of tanning hides using bran flakes.  The tanning solution calls for ban flakes, pickling salt, and sulfuric acid.   Has anyone else used this method?  If so, what kind of results have you had?

Hi,
I did it with sulfuric acid (for car batteries). Good results with muskrats and deerhides. The leather gets white after softening and shaping it dry with my biface. But I think it depends on how big is the animal or how thick is the hide to tan. Using less acid with a thin hide is a good idea, because some muskrathides tattered when stertching a little. It takes some time to do it right.
