Hickory Warbow
« on: January 02, 2011, 04:36:00 pm »
Here's a warbow from a build along I did on paleoplanet. Its 76"ntn, 120#@32", 1.5" wide and 1" thick at the handle, and 1/2" wide and thick at the tips. It retained a slight bit of reflex when rested and has about 3/8" of set just unbraced. It weighs 30oz so its heavy according to Steve's mass formula. The nocks are made of bone and the bowyers mark is the symbol for the deathly hallows from harry potter. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Tiller isn't perfect but both limbs are bending evenly. I hope the build along helped. I'll probably do more in the future. Thanks for looking. :)

Nice job, Ryan. Your tiller looks spot-on for a warbow, and you're definately getting full draw. Now you need to go flight shoot it with some EWBS livery weight arrows, to see what your cast is like.

Thanks guys. I just got a better scale for measuring the draw weight and the bow is actually closer to 110#.

adb, I think I may try and shoot it today but I don't have any EWBS livery weight arrows. I do have some 1000 grain arrows from Jim and one that is 1750 a friend from MOJAM gave to me but its 30.5" to the back of the head. Can't wait to shoot that one. :)

That's another great looking bow Ryan! You sure got everything out of that piece of hickory. Nice job.
