Russ i seen a web site once that sells raw un cut antler. I remember seeing moose antlers going for about $80
your pay $80 for a moose billet with the specks you are looking for. but if you get the whole rack your have extra.
Also sometimes you can catch full racks on ebay dirt cheap.

If you were tradeing 10 inch horn stone slabs i'd jump on it ;)

Your Gorge town looks good and is a fair traid.
I know Gorge town sells for $3.00 a lb. thats about $60 value on a med FRB. $70 with shipping.
So its worth a moose billit.

if you are willing to wait 1 week or so i am going to the red deer farm. red deer have antlers very similar to elk. i wish i had pics of mine i can post a pic tomarro.
i occasionally knap abo and have a few and like them i have sold 7 of them in the past everyone has always been satisfied. let me know if interested. i will pick up another set of antlers to make a billet for you.
if int. i will send you the billet and you send me what you think it is worth. pedicles run  about 2.5 inch in diameter. any length you want.

I would love some flint. All I have is obsidian.  Trade some for obsidian.  And I have a mule deer hide in the freezer also.

well, I have a small pair of moose antlers I've been planning to make knife handles out of and never seem to get around to it... but maybe this is a good excuse for somebody else to get some use out of it, and I get a chance to learn how to knap too.  Here's a pic, how much of it would you need?

shoot, gimme a few minutes to remember how to upload a pic...
I should know better.

lol, no, its not humongous, its actually a rather small moose - for size perspective, thats a yellow tennis ball sitting on the garage floor next to it.  The length from the base straight out to the tip is about 16", the "long" tine pointing straight down in the pic is about 8". Diameter of the base averages about 1-1/4", its not quite round, more of an oval actually.

Condition is very good. Its 2 or 3 years old. I cut it off a freshly killed moose in Newfoundland, the guy who shot it didnt want them so I figured great, knife handles for me and all my buddies!  (No you cant have the ones from the moose I got!). Its been sitting in a pile my attached garage with all the caribou and deer antlers ever since.
