Anyone have much experience with cumura?  Have some on hand and heard it would work with a bamboo back but haven't read much about it.  Thoughts?  Coach

No, but I saw on the web it's specific gravity is about .9

If backed with bamboo or hickory it would probably be good, I'd figure.

Cumaru is a dense wood but a bit low in elasticity.  The one bow I made with it failed suddenly in compression,  it just quietly folded in on itself as I reached a 28" draw.  The bow was a Bamboo backed RD bow 62" long.  It might have survived if I had made it a bit longer

Saw nice pieces of Cumaru at the wood store, but all I could find out about it was "compression problems".
