Round Hacksaw Blade For Self Nocks

Is there a preferred blade to cut in self nocks? The .05" blade looks like it will do the job.

I use the basic ceramic tile blade and then finish up with sandpaper.  Works for me ;)

I use a chain saw file and a very small half-round rasp.

I use a single bandsaw cut then open it with a thin blade knife and sandpaper. The tile saw works well too. I could never get a hacksaw blade or blades to work well for cutting nocks.

I use the saw on my pocket tool and follow up with the file on the same tool. Ron

I know it's not primitive but I use my Dremal tool to get the depth and close width. Then finish out with sandpaper.

Mine is a three step process. I start with a hacksaw, and cut to the depth of the blade. Then I follow that up with a ceramic tile blade, and a chainsaw file. The nocks turn out just the right width for me.

Bandsaw first, then a tinny round file to shape the base of the nock then an emery 'fingernail' file to shape the throat. If I do it right, I make a snap nock modeled after the nirk nock.
Bowmakers are a little bent, but knappers are just plain flaky.

Hi Folks,  I use a multistep process.  I have a hack saw with 3 standard blades all mounted together.  I use that to cut to depth.  I use an old broadhead sharpening file the clean up and round over the bottom edges and then use a rattail needle file to widen the bottom for a snap nock type effect.  Ron

Yep, I use the round hacksaw blade. They call it a carbide... something... blade. Sorry I don't have the exact name.  ;)

I'll generally use a normal hacksaw blade for a guiding cut then widen it with the round one.

I also use hack saw blades. I cut 3 same leanth tape together. But the center blade I face the teeth the other way just startsand cleans itself a little better.. Finish up with a file.
