AZ Apache cane>>>------->arrows

Hey fellas,
 Completed a couple of hunting arrows for upcoming Javelina hunt in a few more weeks. I can't wait. Enjoy.

Basic composite arrow, foreshaft is about an 8-9" arrowweed shaft with cane (phragmites communis) to back.

My fletch style using synthetic sinew and a lil Gorilla Glue.


Also dedicated a couple Arrow weed shafts for bunnies and Birds. Arrow weed is some excellent shaft material out west. Cut'em green, once dry the bark just peels off like a banana. The wood itself dries super hard with stiff spine. I actually have trouble finding shafts with weaker spine for my 55# longbow.


Experimented with a very tightly wound almost spiral/flu-flu fletch.

Damned fine arrows sir.....bet them pigs is gonna be really ticked off when they "catch" one of them.....but not for long.

No I'm sorry but I'm sure you could google search it. There are a couple known apache arrow material that I'm aware of. Some hard foreshafts were made from Mtn. Mahogney, mesquite, and ash just to name a few. Main shaft consisted of cane, "mulefat" or seep willow, soild arrows of arrowweed and one other that resembles seep willow.I personnally haven't made any from seep willow. Seep willow has a soft core center but when coupled with a hard fore shaft makes an excellent arrow.
