top limb a little more?

    Been working on a hickory bow lately and had a question- the top limb bends 1/4 " more then the bottom limb. Is this okay?
generally I like the top limb bending a little more but never had it this much.

It depends on the dynamic balance of the bow, which is determined by where you grip the bow handle and where you grip the string. If you can feel one of the limbs trying to pull towards you during the draw then the bow is pulling out of balance. The tiller measurement you are describing is commonly called "positive" tiller. It works best when you grip the bow at center and pull the string slightly above center. Jim

Look at it as you draw it on the tiller, if it tilts a lot or rocks from side to side then it maybe needs adjusting.
This assumes your tiller rig doesn't clamp the bow or support it on a big flat surface, I'm a fan of a curved support which allows the bow to move, I think it tells you more about the ballance of the limbs.
I don't think a quater of an inch is here or there in the grand scheme of things.

I dont measure tip travel...just differences in brace height...I just go by feel and if it feels balanced and shoots well its a good bow to me...I'm still a noob though.

i try and make all my bow upper limbs bend .25" more than the lower
i dont worry about brace height differances
its full draw that matters most
