Yellowheart and glue

Just bought some yellow heart and am going to back it with hickory. Has anyone else worked with yellowheart? Would TBIII work on it? Or is it oily? THanks.

Degrease it and you will be fine.

Acetone is awesome.

Yellowheart is a tropical wood from South America. It is as striking a yellow as purple heart is purple but isn't as dense. I like to mix purple heart and yellow heart for a striking contrast.

Don't know if this will work but I will try to post some pictures (not very good) of the yellowheart. They don't quite show how bright yellow it really is.

Where do you guies get your yellow heart and purpleheart? I'd like to try it but can not find any in my area.

i do remember seeing that stuff at a exotic woods dealer in the minneapolis area awhile back
they had every kind of exotic wood you can imagine plus two more varieties
i think im gonna go check that place out again
anyone know if its works in bow form like ipe?

George, it stays yellow.
Tim, it is pretty but don't try to use it like Ipe. It isn't nearly as tough as Ipe. I prefer it as an accent or core in a laminated bow.

you can get it at the woodcraft store they have any kind of tropical wood you can think of pen blanks bowl blocks and assorted hard woods laments .

I got mine at a hardwood store here in MA. I am going to leave it long (68") and about 1 1/4 or 1 3/8 inches wide. I have never worked with it, so I guess I will see what happens.
