white oak ipe, full draw added

nother one i finished today white oak backed ipe. 60 inches tip to tip last 6 inches are stiff and thicker. 1 1/2 at fades to 1/4 inch tips .ipe tip overlays. 51 lbs at 28 inches. full draw tomorrow after it dries . thanks for lookin

first time for white oak backing strips and im pleased with it

Nice looking bow, its got no set and the tiller looks good at brace, so well done, maybe you havent shot it yet?, but was wondering how the oak performes as a backing?

nice work. with a white oak backing it should be almost indestructible.  (Is the backing quartersawn?)

look's good, I've used white oak for backing and really like it, stuff's tough as nails

Wow....Ken thast's another fine bow, sir. Like the "longbow" look to the whole thing, nice classic brace profile too.

Wow, that's the first time I've ever seen White Oak used to back Ipe.  Cant wait to see full-draw pics.

The Oak against the Ipe makes a nice contrast Ken. I bet it will be a tough hunting bow.

  Nice job, glad you posted this. I have good access to white oak and almost no access to hickory. Boo has been very inconsistent for me. I bought some white oak today and plan to cut it up into backings. Steve

thanks all for the replies . the white oak is 1/4 sawn and from what i can tell tough as hickory.
this one shoots hard and fast and then comes back to almost no string follow soon as its unbraced.
steve we might have to find you some hickory.
i got called in on a quick turn around at work (8 hours off and 5 hours sleep)so ill post full draw tomorrow , thanks to all

Does anyone sell white oak backing strips? I don't have the tools to cut my own, and I have not found anyone who sells them.

NT not that i know of . but someone on here would prob trade with you

scott thanks , glad to help you get your fix lol ! far as the backing not being used im not sure im hunting for cons to it but cant find any. hijack anytime its all about learning and trying

Man Ken, thats really a sweet full draw and like I said before that is a classic profile. Just noticed it looks like you have some stiff tips going on there? That ought to make it really quick, but the limbs still maintain that classic profile.....dont know how ya do it, but it's way cool all the way around.
