Deer are amazingly tough. I've skinned two over the years with healed-over broadheads in them, and I don't know how many with bullets in them.

He will be a slammer next year if he makes it. We're suposed to get 2 to 4 feet of snow here over the next couple days on top of what we already got. It's going to be tough on him for sure. He doesnt seem to be puting any weight on that leg and his hip looks all weird like it might be broken.

He might make it since he isn't afraid to forage in yards, but he may never get huge with that kind of injury.

This one did. I know of another one that was shot in the hip with a rifle and made it.
A friend of mine killed a buck the other day that had 14" of arrow shaft in his chest.
Hillbillys right.  They are amazingly tough animals.
I think that one will make it alright. Next year he may not be at 100% though.
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

He may even have a deformed antler on the left side next year. For some reason deer that have a trauma on one side of their rear end sometimes experience deformed antler of the opposite side.
He does look pretty emaciated this early in the season.

Saw a fat adult whitetail doe the other day by Dayton, Wa. She was missing a rear leg above the knee joint.  They can survive alot sometimes.  '  Frank

A little feed spilled here and there wouldn't hurt...... ::)  Keep him from having to forage for food, and putting undue stress on that leg. ;)     If it looks like his not doing well, and is on his way out, a .22short will quietly put him out of his misery. :(  I hope he makes it.

He is eating out of a turkey feeder in my moms back yard there. I'll post some more pictures if we get any. If he makes it through 2nd archery/muzzle loader season after christmas I think he'll live. I hope.  ;D
