Lil' Yelper
« on: December 15, 2010, 06:13:35 pm »
I was cleaning and burning wood scraps in my shop over the weekend and came across this paddle for a box call. This was a throw away of Indian Charlie's, one he was't happy with when making his box calls. I used to take them and wood burn turkey feathers and legs with spurs for desk plaques. Well I put a thin piece of slate on, cut it down to fit and drilled a hole for a lanyard. It sounds like a young hen yelping , purring and puttin'. I'll be useing this one come spring time.

Nice looking call. Coupla questions how thick is the wood and slate?I'm guessing3/16"for the wood and 1/8" for the slate.
What kind of glue did you use?Epoxy? Final question are those your oranges 8)
Thanks Leroy

sweet call!  maybe you can use it this spring on the farm to thin the turkey herd that is working over my food plots.

Hey that looks like it will work to me.  Good way to reuse unwanted material.
Happy hunting to all!

 Thanks, Guys.

Leroy, the wood is a 1/4" and the slate a little less than an 1/8". And those oranges are in my backyard along with the pineapples and lemons.

Tim, it is not loud but it sounds real sweet. :)
