a few bows
« on: December 06, 2010, 07:41:24 pm »
Here are a few bows I've built over the past couple of weeks. the one closest to the stove pipe is a hickory backed hickory that is 66 tip to tip and pulls 52# at 28 inches.Next is a lighting struck wild cherry that is 60 inches tip to tip and pulls 42# at 26 inches. The tips are flipped and belly is toasted. The next is a linen canvas backed red oak board bow that is 68 inches and pulls 54# at 28inches. The last is a a BBI that draws in the mid fifty's.

How does the linen/oak combo perform? Pretty available materials for sure.

I've built a good number of linen canvas backed red oak board bows. Good combo, just make sure you got a good straight grained board and you break the bow in slowly.
