Oh yeah, I guess it does look like white sapwood - except the back of it looks pretty dark. Did you stain it or is that a natural color? I also wonder if BW gets darker with age, since its nuts are good for dark stain.

Here's a few more of the finished handle, to pretty to cover up with anything
It was a bugger to get started being so big but once we got it in half it split nice
The color on the back is all natural i think it has that "antique" look to it.

Hi Frode, the bow is finished with Tru-oil 6 light coats, it's all i use on my bows

Nice bow. That black walnut split beautifully for you. I wasn't so lucky when I split about 4 logs a few weeks ago. I had kept getting runoffs mid-log

Sweet profile on the bow, love that color in the handle. I like those shorter stiff levers too, there is a guy at our cornstalk shoots that has one similar to that made of hickory it's levers are a bit shorter and it shoots wicked. Good job.
