pawpaw and buckeye

just wondering if either paw paw or buckeye trees would be any good for bow wood, there are quite a few around my friends hunting spot. figure it might be worth investigating, as many fruit and nut bearing woods will make a decent bow.

ok so i looked it up and they dont have very good sg's so not sure they would work.buckeye would be a better choice for a trial, which is closly related to horse chestnut,though ive not seen any bows made from this.

I cut a piece of pawpaw last year to try and that stuff was super light.  I started to debark half of it and by the next day it had checked so bad it was almost split in half.  I'd still like to see it done some time but I'm leaving my pawpaws to the fruit business from here on out.  No idea on the buckeye though.

yea with their low SG's theyre probably very soft. youd probably have to overbuild to get something successful.

I have what I think is paw paw that I cut several years ago.  Have not done anything with it yet.  It looks almost like live oak to me with the bark and wood.
