maple deer rawhide pyramid d style
« on: November 24, 2010, 12:55:24 am »
This bow is 62 inches ntn and 50lbs @ 26 ". Heat treated 3" of reflex into it. Still holds most of it after 200 shots or so. Backed with deer rawhide, knox glue. first shot at both of those. But seemed to work out. Pretty darn fast too.

Nice job!
Time, dedication, cuts, tons of broken rock, a wife, and perhaps a few girlfriends are some of what it takes in becoming a skilled flint knapper!!!

Bowmakers are a little bent, but knappers are just plain flaky.

Hate to break this to you, but that bow looks dangerous.  It could definitely injure something like a deer, elk, moose, rabit, or Lord-knows-what if it fell into the wrong hands.  Send me your address so I can mail you the necessary postage for shipping it to me.  I promise to keep it out of the wrong hands!

Classic testbook example of a pyramid, and maple seems to make a hard hitting bow with this style.  I'd love to see what it does with a chronograph!

Thanks for sharing MsPink, but I just don't get that username?!?!    >:D

Awesome bow!  I am inspired to build something similar, how wide is it?
