HHB snake backed...sleepy hollow bow finished pics
« on: November 23, 2010, 05:16:49 pm »
Just finished this HHB Bow up for an auction we have for bear camp. The bow is 67" long and finished 53#@28". The bow has a 5" handle, 1 1/2" fades, is 1 1/2" at its widest point tapering to 3/8" at the nocks. It has 1 1/2" of deflex (1/2" being set) and is holding 1" of reflex. The bow finished out at 21.5 ozs. The backing is western diamond back and the tips are antler that I tried to make look like rattles. The grip is suede and accented with rattlesnake skin. I finished the bow with alcohol stain and ten coats of Tru-oil. I made a armguard and some matching arrows for the lucky winner. The bow generated some nice money for the camp. The winner "Tom" is a compound shooter that I met a few years ago....He really wanted the bow (I think I got him converted...lol). He was very excited about winning and said he is going to start practising and wants to hunt with it. He shot the bow very well. This was one of my best shooters yet... smooth draw, very snappy, and shoots where your looking. The tiller pic is me drawing the bow to about 26 1/2". When Tom shot the bow he was getting the full 28"...so it fits him very well for his height and draw. It was just meant to be. I was very happy to see the bow go to a guy thats going to use it.

Jon

Classic lines, BEAUTIFUL tiller, awesome finish work with the snake skins, interesting design for the tip overlays... Just an all-around perfect bow.  Great work!  Bookmarked for November BOM contest.  :)

Holy crap man, that's a nice looking bow, with some really nice looking accessories too.  When I picture the perfect bow in my mind, that's pretty much it!  "Tom" is a lucky man.

Awesome bow Jon, and a great contribution as well. You did a fantastic job detailing that out and the whole overall scheme makes for a very thought out package. Congratulations on a very fine bow.I'm sure the winner will be hooked on primitive with that one.

I really like that bow!  Finish, Tiller, Tips, handle, it ALL looks good.  No wonder it won a convert.
