Thanks everyone for the comments, glad ya all like it.  I will definitely keep an eye out for more maple at the HD.  This board I think could have been a self bow but because It was going to an unknown user I wanted it as safe as possible.

Out of all the woods I have used to build a bow I have yet to try some maple... You did very well with this one Nate.  Looks awesome! I am sure the new owner will be thrilled with it for years to come.  Grip, tiller, skins, and finish work all look outstanding as is becoming the norm for you.   :)  Got your bow saved for the November Laminate BOM contest as well.  :)

My Dad will be holding the raffle in January I believe, If you or anyone else actually wants to buy a ticket I will get you contact info.  I don't see any reason out of staters can't buy tickets.  It's going to a good cause too, homeless Vets!
