Hickory Backed Maple
« on: November 11, 2010, 07:54:20 pm »
Finished up the bow for the Son's of American Legion Fundraiser.  .

I heat treated the maple just a tad before glue up, after glue up it had about an inch of reflex, after tillering and shooting in it has about a half inch of string follow.  I was aiming for pipe straight but it's close.  I finished it all off with 6 coats of tung oil.  I really liked working with this wood combo, it made a sweet shooting bow.  Hope ya like it!

IslandPiper donated a hand tooled Leather Notebook to send with this and ThwackAddict is making up some arrows.

Very impressive bow NTD, You did a great job on those skins and the tiller looks spot on. Great leather works and attention to detail. Congratulations

Thanks Scott.  You gave me enough bubinga that I was able to use a piece of it for this, I thought it contrasted nicely with the creamy color of the maple.  I've got one more bow to finish up and I'll be able to get to work on that set of lams you sent me, can't wait.  When are we going to see your latest?   ;)
