Bow #2 - "November Rain" - Maple Self bow
« on: November 09, 2010, 01:49:50 am »
Well, I finished up my second bow tonight.  Another maple bow, this one's not backed, no handle laminate or tip overlays - just a solid piece of wood.  It's 68" KTK, 51#@28".  I decided on the name November Rain, because it seemed appropriate as it was raining here today, which for Saskatchewan in November is very strange. Most years we have a foot of snow by now.  I was initially building this one to give to either my dad or one of my brothers, but then decided to donate it to a silent auction we are having at work for United Way.  So unfortunately that will be one more bow I have to build... shucks!

Anyway, here's the pics.  Sorry for the lame full draw shot, but like I said, it's crappy weather here. I'll try to get an action shot ASAP.

Nice tiller!

What are those two "things" hanging from the handle?

Thanks guys.  The "things" are just some cheesy wooden beads I had kicking around, I just put them on the tag ends of the lace.

No no no no no. They are torque momentum absorbers which you should be selling at $50 a pair to the target crowd  >:D.
Nice bow, I like a nice clean self bow (I'd have done without the shelf myself)

Nice Bow!  Tiller looks great and I love the way you did your handle wrap.  Bookmarked for Nov. Self BOM contest  :)

Gorgeous lookung bow!  The finish is great against the grip material.

Like Del said though, I'd have left off the shelf but that's just personal.

Someone's gonna be VERY happy with that bow.  How do I bid? Hehehe

Looks great.  Was it a maple board?   You did a great job.  Maple can really launch an arrow.

Thanks for the input guys.  I'd have done without a shelf too, it was just a last minute add-on, because I'm guessing the future owner would probably want it. (And hopefully the future owner turns out to be right handed, I'm a lefty myself)

Parnell - ya, it came from a board sliced out of a 2x10

HatchA - What's your bid? I'll let you know if you're a contender :)

I would like to thank Adam Beck for graciously taking me under his wing, offering help with tools, ripping up the wood, and all of his advice along the way. You are the man Adam!
