I've done similar, sanding the rattan surface will make it take the stain way better.

Thanks again fella's.Frank,your correct,if you sand the rind off you will get a very even dye job.On these ,I pulled the dry rattan through a folded piece of sandpaper one trip,then mixed the dye in the same hot water used to soften the rattan.I like the irregular pattern of color it leaves with scant sanding.It's kind of different.Thanks. Thanks George and Russ.The little DR already has only a 4" brace height,and if I lower it any more,she'll be slappin' her little wrist.I can't have that happenin'.  ;) Thanks fellas  God Bless
