Oldgun, don't you have Elm, Maple, or Oak up that way? If you can find a hardwood mill near your area, you might be able to buy raw logs that suit your needs. I did that here with Oak and got enough for a dozen bows. Plus scored some nice plain sawn boards that I have made a couple dozen bows from. Total cost for log and boards was only twenty five dollars. If you have a lumber mill near you, they would know where someone is milling out hardwood.
