hickory board bow

I got asked to do a bow recently for a boss. he has shot wheelie bows up untill recently he shot a friends long bow and was instantly hooked. i told him i could make him a decent flatbow and here she is. 65"  pulls 47@28  horn tips and zebra wood stripe in the riser. i dont have a pic of the brace height but its fistmelee* (spelling) and man does she sling em. As always criticism and critiques welcome, you dont improve if you dont hear em.

thats a nice bow.very unique grip how long is the grip.Looks kinda compact and round.tips look excellent wish i could get mine that slick ;)

     Well crafted bow, nice tiller, curious as to the wood....looks like what I use....quartersawn ash, oak, maybe? Just curious because your clear finish brought the grain out very nicely.

Thwackaddict thank you the riser is about 6.5" start of the fade up to the end.

PeteDavis thank you. I have done 2 of these risers before and have no prob with the grip. i leave it at least 2 times as thick as the thickest bending part of the limbs and never go less than half width, i figure with those specs it should hold about 4 times the draw with the formula given for tillering. 2 times as thick is 8 times stronger, 2 times width is 2 times stronger.

half eye thank you. The bow itself is from a hickory board the stripe in the riser is zebra wood. This has to be the shiniest bow i have made yet and the tru-oil definitely brings out the grain in all the woods i have used it on.

That looks very nice - the tiller is very even.  I'm wondering about the cut out, do you have any trouble with the fletchingbeing compressed or hitting at that type of an angle?  I really like the zebrawood layer.  Nice bow!

 Very nice bow, Dustin, your boss ought to be real proud to have such a gift. My only recommendation would be to bring the hand grip section of the riser higher, so the Index finger is as close to the shelf as you can get. This gives you more control and accuracy.

Cool bow! Is the limbs pyramid shaped?

Like that tiller a lot, starts bending immediately out of the fades that takes skill to pull of.
