Anyone ever use ebony as tip overlays? I was playing with some this past weekend and it shined up really nice- alot like horn. Only problem I could see is it is VERY heavy!

I used ebony on my last bow. I put Mahogany over it, but it shouldn't make any differance. I know its a dense wood but a thin piece shouldn't slow the bow down much I wouldn't think

I've used ebony on several bows, with great success. It looks like horn.

Thanks everyone. I've seen it enough so I figured it would work, but was surprised at how heavy it is.
