Congratulations to Nathen Danforth from Tuscon, Arizona for Winning August Backed BOM!!
From Nate:IT"S NOT PINK, IT'S OXBLOOD.
Here is a Hickory backed Osage R/D I just finished up. It is 64" long, 62" ntn. 1 1/4" wide tapering to 1/2" tips. It draw 50lbs @ 28".
It is backed with a sonoran gopher snake. And the strike plate is gopher snake as well. I used Coyote in the powerlam, riser, and overlays.
I also did a tennis racquet handle wrap on this and I love it! Thanks TIMO for that build-a-long, I think it turned out well for my first attempt
This gopher skin had some nice reddish orange hues to it. I wanted to exxagerate that a bit so I dyed the hickory with Oxblood colored leather dye. Well what I thought was supposed to be a dark reddish maroon became pink on the hickory. I guess it's okay, my wife says I'm man enough to shoot a pink bow.
