$12.00 oak board at Home Depot
« on: September 13, 2010, 10:15:47 pm »

Well for my second bow I decided to try an oak board pyramid. It is 66" 48#@28. I used osage for the tip overlays. The bow is very smooth and shoots where I look. What more could a guy ask for ;D

Nice Bow.
Good tiller
How many boards did you have to go through before you got that nice straight grain pattern?

God bless

Wow, that looks a lot like the 8 dollar red oak board bow I just finished last week!  ;D  Haven't posted that one yet, though.

Yours looks real good.

Your bow turned out great!  Looks like you got that tillering thing down pat.  :)  I will always have a soft spot for a red oak board bow because that was my first few bows when i first started.  Still make one on occasion because for the money and performance you just can't beat them.  Got your bow bookmarked for September BOM contest too.  :)

Only about 5 Ron. I got lucky. I should go back and see if there are any more. There is a place about an hour from me that has a huge selection of hard woods and exotics. I need to pay them a visit and see what is in their wood pile ;)

$12 goes an awful long way these days, doesn't it? from the looks of the tiller, i'd say it shoots a damn site better than most would expect from $12 too!

great job!

Attaboy!  I love a nicely done pyramid bow.  You did great on the tiller, and the handle profile is simple and sleek.   :)
