Today a guy I know offered me some 2'' thick well cured walnut boards. I have no idea how they are cut and it is not easy to go and look at them. With them being as thick as they are do you think the chances are good there may be some bows there?

i would take them
even if the grain isnt the best for a selfbow
you can always back it with boo or something like hickory
