New Sycamore Selfbow....finished

Hey guys I finally got sometime to finish this bow up tonight. Put her on the scale again after finally sanding and toasting the belly and ended up right at 40#@28". A little under what I was hoping for but I have another piece of Sycamore waiting so I know what adjustments to make and hopefully I'll end up with a heavier bow next time. This is bow is 64"ntn, 40#@28, osage arrow shelf and tip overlays. I just finished her off with two coats walnut stain and I'll probably just buff her out with some 0000 steelwool and put on a coat of poly tomorrow. I got a couple pics below. Let me know what you think. Ill try to get a good one tomorrow so you can see the grain, it really looks nice with the walnut stain.

For a hunting bow that color is excellent, and highlites the grain. Like it a lot.

Wow, that's great! Sycamore grows here in Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona. This is good to know.

What are the widthmeasurements? I just split a whole bunch of Sycamore when I was in TN. I was also wondering if the handle bends at all on this one?

very nice bow and hunting weight too, sycamore is nice wood i posted a syc pyramid and a syc mollegabet awhile back and still have a couple bows worth of wood,just got to get around to it. well done

Hey Hillbilly. This bow is 1.5" the entire length except about the last 10" on each limb it tapers down to 3/8" nocks.
