Great job and congratulations!!! A character bow will teach you a ton. You must have done your homework. My first shooter was a character osage bow and it really taught me ....thanks to the TBB 4 and this web site. A straight stave will be a piece of cake now. Osage is tuff on the body and tuff on tools. You will see other woods are a lot easier to work with....but its hard to beat the durabilty of osage. The stuff makes a great bow....Again CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME

Thank you all. This is a great site, I'm happy to be here. Marc,it doesn't shoot as well as the black locust you made for me. It's a little on the shockey side by comparison.

If it has too much handshock for ya you could always take a little more off the tips to reduce mass there.  Anything past the string grooves is just dead weight. You could probably narrow them a little more too if you wanted.  Both will reduce the handshock you feel.  Once again VERY nice first bow.   :)

Josh, I'll probably just live with this one,but I'll do differently next time ;) I wondered if the antler overlays being heavier than wood was a contributing factor? Oh well, I'll always be in pursuit of the best shooter.

Well I finally finished it up. I took Josh's advice and reduced the tips a bunch, it shoots much better. I thought I'd post a couple of pictures with the grip installed. Once again thank you all for your compliments. By the way, I finished the bow with Teak oil  after the modifications were made. That is a nice finish to work with.
