pyramid question
« on: August 23, 2010, 09:00:42 pm »
I am making a pyramid bow (havent started just cut down tree and its setting for 2 weeks or till I get home) but I will either use hickory or black locust

now my question is I read in bowyers bible that pyramids arent tillered the same as other bows and that they are supposed to be uniform thickness the whole way through, am I misinterpreting the way this is written and should I tiller its thickness or is this basically taken care of by making the limbs taper down to a mminute width???

pyramid bows are tillered according to their front view profile (the taper from fade to tip) however you will find that you will need to do some sanding on the belly to get the finished tiller you want. its kind of like the taper gives you the way its supposed to look but it will still take sanding and scraping the belly to get the weight at your draw. hope this helped
