Dimensions for a coon fleshing board.
« on: August 18, 2010, 12:08:52 am »
Does anyone have dimensions to make a fleshing board for coons. Are they universal or do you have to have multiple fleshing boards for diffrent sized coons? I have 10 hides frozen left over from last year and would like to try and flesh them. I have all the diffrent sized stretchers. I have only seen the fleshing boards for sale at one place and they wanted close to a hundred bucks for it. Any help would be appreciated.

Fleshing board are not animal specific, for a general size I use a 2x6 oak board  tapered an thinned to a blunt point with a draw knife an sanded good an smooth so hair doesn,t catch. If your fleshing weasel or mink you could make a lot skinnier board so cased skin slides over. Hope this helps. Bob

Check out fleshing with a pressure washer on utube, looks like the easiest way to flesh a hide.
