straightening old wood shaft

 hey guys didn't have anything to do yesterday and have been waiting on my brother to fletch up some arrows for the kids and me( he has the jojan jig at his house) so i said why not so i made a jig up out of wood scraps and some metal and fletched up some old wooden arrows that where given too me. well after fletching one up i see it has a bend in it out towards the tip. this is a old bear arrow and it is painted. can this be heated out by the bend and fixed or would steaming work? if not i will cut it out for the boys too shoot.

ive got a new way of heating my shafts gently
i turn on the gas grill on low and close the lid,let it preheat to aboot 350*
then i open the lid just enough to fit the shaft into the grill and keep rotating it
after aboot 30-45 seconds the entire shaft is heated evenly and all the way threw
then just gently end and hold the afected area untill cool
and wa la a nice easily straightened shaft
