John, I guess I just dislike putting points on and pulling them off. It takes me to long to get them straight the first time.  ;D

I can understand that, Justin, I surely can.  I am saddled with a Tru-Center tapering tool that is surely demon possessed.  It will NOT center the taper no matter what you do.  I have better luck using my 4 in hand Nicholson rasp and my eye for judgement.

I have the twin to your taper tool, it just plain sucks. I dreaded making arrows before I made my own taper tool. Here is a link to the post  http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,17608.0.html

I built the same set up for myself, except I used a $3000 Shopsmith...until the spindle locked up on it.
