Steaming tempered wood?

I'm working on a couple takedowns with wrapped steel sleeves. So far it's working fine. The first bow took 1" of set (started straight) which I was pretty happy about, but there's also 1" of give in the handle. So at the moment it has 2" of string follow. I already temepered the belly, but is it possible to steam the tips into a little reflex? The cast is only fair, and I'm not too happy about the 2" of string follow.

Thoughts?

I think I would seal the tips with shellac before steaming to prevent possible checking. Other than that there should be no problem.

If it has been tempered, I would use dry heat not steam. If all you are after is a little reflex dry heat should be fine.
