Quiick, maybe simple question.  Osage backed ash or ash backed osage?  Both woods are quarter sawn.

I think osage is better in compression than ash, so i would go ash backed osage.  I could be wrong maybe someone who has done this combo before will chime in with some thickness ratios... Good luck on your bow, Nate!   :)

HA! Trick question!  Do both.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Thanks Josh, Just broke an ash backed purple heart that I was making for a friends 11 yr old daighter, but the failure was the PH.  So on to the next one.  I'm trimming some thickness off from an osage board I have and wanted to be able to put that 1/8" to 3/16' slab to use.  I'm only aiming to make a 22-24# bow at maybe 24"

The osage will be 1 3/4" wide.  Maybe if I rip them and glue them together I will have 7/8" wide and 1/4"-3/8" core to back with ash....
