Sinew backed take down?

With a metal sleeve, would you be able to stop the sinew at the ends of the fades, or would it pull up? Would a wrapping help any?

I think as long as the sinew was laid as far into the non-bending portion that you possibly could it would be fine.  I would wrap it flush with the ends of the take down sleeves for insurance though..  :)

Thanks Josh :). I've seen a few bows that didn't have sinew across the handle, but they stopped about 1" past wehre the sleeve would be, just wanted to make sure.

On the first couple of sinew backed bows I built I did cross the handle with the sinew. I did however add a wrap at the handle end of the sinew. I think by not crossing the handle I lost some of the effect of the sinew. Of course with a take down you can't cross the handle so you will deal with that dilemma. I would put a wrap around the ends though.

Kegan, All you really need to sinew is the working part of the limb. Just roll it down the side a little.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Thanks everyone :). I just found a way I can do some takedowns without too much trouble, and have a shorter stave I was planning to turn into a travel bow that might have been overstressed at the draw weight I wanted from it :)
