i would like to give a special thanks today to all of those brave men and woman whom have fought and died thru out the ages
just so we could have the honor of living in a free country.

I remove my hat(which almost never leaves my head),bow my head, shed a tear of sorrow and pride
i place my hand over my heart as i face the RED WHITE and BLUE
for i am so very proud to live in a country like this one.

i am so very proud of my sons that serve in the greatest Navy ever on this planet.
i am also proud of every other person that has and still do serve this great nation of ours.
i like to consider each and every one of them members of my family.

now my oldest is home untill tuesday   ;D
so celebrate the 4th we will do to the best of our abilities
he is over 21 now,so imagine the celebration were gonna have today
i got me a new bottle of Petron, just for today  ;)
not to mention whole bunch of fire works for tonight

for today we honor all of those that did the right thing
for today we honor all of those that are still doing the right thing
for today we honor al of those that have fallen while doing the right thing.
for if was not for them we wouldnt know the freedoms we have today

so today is all about them

May God bless and watch over all that have fallen, served and still serve in our military.
For they are true American heros.

peace and HAPPY 4TH OF JULY,
Tim & Kris (two very proud parents ;) )

Well said.
One of our local boys was seriously injured in Afghanistan a few days ago by a roadside bomb. his legs were crushed and he is being operated on to remove shrapnel from his chest that has become infected. The last time I saw him he was proud to be going back in the service at the age of 38.At least two who were in the truck with him did not survive.  I'm sorry I do not know his rank or unit details but I'm praying for you Danny McGowan. Remember our troops that serve and have served.

As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up ways to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion.

Everytime I hear the thud of fireworks going up I think of mortars and I try to find a hole. We used to fire green star clusters at night when we were coming back into our lines from a ambush or combat patrol. If we got into a gunfight it was a red star cluster. I cannot bring myself to go out at night on the fourth of July.
Do what you can to take care of these kids that are coming back but don't be surprised if they don't want to go to the fireworks show.

Amen, Grunt.  I duck and dodge every July 4th too.  Not to mention, since I lived on the helipad inbound flight path at Tan SonNhut,  when overloaded Huey's/JetRangers come whopping overhead low and fast...
