Knappin Tools Where to Buy ?

HI Guys,
Jesse tried to send me a link of where to buy knappin tools but it did not come thru. I think he is on the road this weekend so can anyone tell me where to get good boppers from ? Jesse said Mason and I needed the 1 3/8" short bopper and maybe a 1 5/8" too ? I also need to get me a slotted hand pad for pressure flaking. Thanks !

Thanks Bill, not sure if we will make it or not. When Mason first started knapping you were a big help to him. Next time I see you maybe you can teach his old man a lesson or two, haha ! I think we will for now just go ahead and buy the 1 3/8" shorty bopper, hand pad and ishi stick to help get me started. I liked the flintknappingtools .com site the best.

What is the deal on the ishi sticks ? They offer a 3/4" and 7/8", those are awful close to the same size, only 1/8" difference ? They also offer the double ended one and I can see where that would come in handy by having two sizes of copper in one tool.

as far as the size on the Ishi sticks
the fatter the stick the less flex its gonna have
plus some folks like thicker or thinner depending on their hand size

the one i use is made from delron( i believe its called ),about .75" thick
has nice flex,i like the way it pops flakes.
mine only has one tip,but i also have a .75" hickory one that flex's less
i also have a hand flaker and a horse shoe nail flaker
but my plastic ishi gets the most use
you can also change the lenght of the copper sticking out the end too
trhis also helps in getting flex.i find that if its too stiff its harder to get nice flakes
it seems like the flexing gives it some nice "POP" to get the flakes off better

Make a Beefy Ishi when ya get the chance.
 I have a homemade one that takes allot to make it flex but i can move some serous flakes with it. over 4 inch long pressure flakes if needed.
 I have been wanting to make a stronger one.
 
I really like the billits that are offered at flintknappingtools.com, It would cost about as much to make on that quality.
