Did the deer have a collar and name tag?  I'm a bit suspicious that a regular deer would let somebody walk right up to it with no cover in sight.

ya seems to me that deer was a little to,well lets just say it seemed a little timid
well ok it seemed awful damn tame to me
i could hear the kids footsteps in the leaves on the audio, cant tell me a truly wild deer didnt
or are the deer in Pa. naturaly deaf ad timid.
we have petting zoos here that have deer that seem alot more wild than that one did
i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"
i ride because i love to,not to be part of the crowd

Given that this was basically an advertisement for a a hunting trip, he has an incentive to make the video memorable.  Not sure if I believe it to be true, but cool nonetheless.

Doesn't matter to me if the deer was wild or not.

Fact that a 7 year old has the accuracy to confidently hunt with in atlatl is amazing...a true feat to me.  I practice a lot with my bow and I still can't take a deer yet.

i wouldnt call what they did "hunting"
that was just glorified target practice

hell i am more than confident in my abilities with my bows
i use them for everything from small game to ground buzzards
what i hunt are truly "wild" animals and not so timid you can walk up to them with the leaves crackling like that and they dont even flinch
sorry but that aint hunting by no definition of the word
i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"

I was going to stay out of this...but I am with Tim on this ...the Doe was too used to people...to calm...too Placid...and the Shot was anything besides an accurate Kill Shot....it was a Gut Shot...whether a Child or an Adult....not a good shot...not in my book anyways
As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up ways to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion.

I always felt the age restrictions on big game hunting were a good thing. Under a certain age, it's proven that people can't empathize. I really don't think little kids should be out there like some are.

But the video isn't loading for me :-\

no credit given by me,and the only reason the meats on the table is cause grandpa did the actual kill
he even said so in the video.

to me what they did isnt any differant than what i did on my granparents farm as a kid
grandpa would walk us thru the barn and point at which hog/cow/chickens he wanted killed for butchering
and he would let us young uns shoot them in the head with a .22 pistol
pretty much the same thing they did in the video, except they used and atlatl

and i guarantee them chickens were alot more wild than that deer was  ;D

I've got to agree with Sailordad here. They could have saved a lot of time and effort by taking a spear down to the supermarket, skewering a big roast with it, and walking that up to the checkout counter. Granted, the other people in the store might be a little weirded out by the whole thing, especially if they went the whole nine yeards and did that with buckskin loincloths on. But it's the same thing.
