The Fred Flinstonish
« on: June 29, 2010, 02:59:55 pm »
Finished The Juniper Short Bow.Not a BOM.
Gotter at about 32#@20" 45" NTN
Put 2 Coarses of white tail Sinew,1st with Hide Glue and the 2nd with TB2.
This Wood has been a toghy to work with ,kept wanting to go back to it's natural state.
I used this side of the branch for practice, it is the deflexed.
Gonna use the reflexed side for a Gordon style Bow (l Like his Bows a Lot)
Anyway I painted the Bow with Acrylic trying to keep the colors earthy.
I coated the Bow with Mod Podge, kinda unorthodox but after it cures it seems to be pretty tough ( don't recomend it for a replacement finish) but I'm always tryin somethin different.
I might enter this in as a sculptor in a Gallery.
The Arrows and quiver I posted in arrows :)Phillip

Nice looking bow. Like the handle and design. The unstrung looks like mine ::) I bet the reflexed will burn um up ;)

Cool bow Philip. Did you put the markings on near the handle? I like the whole package.

Very nice, I'm jealous of the variety of native bows in North America.
Although I don't recall ever seeing Fred Flintstone with one, and I'm sure we can take as read the archeological accuracy of the Flintstones? ::).
