Pappy, PatB, PeteC, gmc, Josh - Thanks a lot, your boasting my ego, good! Now I'm ready for the other side of that log. It's gonna be more tricky..

woodpow - yes a lot of knots come in from the side. I choose to saw it in half that way. The stave is from the middle section of small tree of about 2" in diameter. The top gave me a crossbow blade and the bottom section gives two pretty normal staves. Stringalignment was perfect by accident and didn´t need to fixed. The other side of the stave is in the pic. Thanks!

Del- Haha.. cool idea about the grass. I saw another pretty cool nock somewhere and copied it see pic. You could probably cut where I marked with red and loose more nonworking weight

I need to get some elm processed so I can give it a try. last time I was around elm it about wore me out with one of those big wide body splitting mauls an some big logs. the straight  stuff grows in the deep woods around hear and has a long central trunk going for the sun. I don't even know what kind of Elm it is. But I know it won,t be long like this winter one will be coming down and I will find out.

Thats a great looking bow and tiller, bloody good show considering the stave.

Wow, That is one tricky piece of Elm.  You did an excellent job.  The handle wrap is great, terrific job you should be very proud of that one.
