"double X" new one
« on: June 07, 2010, 01:06:51 am »
Heres a new bow I made out of a hickory board 54 inches long tip to tip. 35# @ 27. Sadly the mulbery bow I made for my bro broke becuase the string somehow shortened and he strung it, the added stress cuased a crack until it broke, I really liked that one. I then decided to make this one for him, it has slight recurves and walnut tip overlays, I have a python snake skin on the back, not a the way to show some wood. Special thanks to Ron AKA "okiecountry" for the python skin, thanks ron my brother was really happy and im sure I will make many more with this skin. The bow is only about 1 1/4 wide at its widest. I heard some cracks during tillering and thought it may not make it but it was only the wood getting used to bending. He has shot it now for couple days and wow hes actually a pretty good shot, even though he only has one arrow. Anyway here he is with his new bow. oh yea we call it double X

very nice looking bow,ill bet hes proud to call it his

as far as having only one arrow, well alot of the times when i practice
that all i use is one arrow, shoot it,go get it adn shoot it again
seems to keep me on focusing on the point of the target that i want to hit without worrying about the other "arrows" i already shot

Indeed!  It also stops the possibility of "Robin Hoods" happening when shooting groups ;)

Great looking bow, Legion'.  Profile looks lovely and the full draw is sweet!

Thanks guys, i really enjoyed making this one. i reckon that for my bro it was torture since i had to glue the overlays and the snake skin so he had to wait some extra days, but he also saw that its better to wait, you get a great prosuct in the end.

Hey cesar
That skin waited 30 plus years to be made into somthing...And if it made your brother happy...then it was worth the waite!

Nice bow, good tiller, happy bro...You just can't beat that!!!
