Reflex deflex glue up

I've made a few ELB but the reflex deflex glue up article in the latest PA has got me inspired to try somthing a bit different. Hickory is proving a bit tricky to find here to the east of the Atlantic. Would the design work with lemonwood?
Cheers

Great, good a good size chunk of that tucked away, just need to get round it with a band saw and find some bamboo for backing as the only bits wide enough I have at the moment are only about 2ft long!
