cherry elb, joke explaination
« on: May 17, 2010, 03:35:34 pm »
after watching the RH doc. i decided to make my wife an elb , she really liked the simple lines and rounded belly (like mine !). this was on of the hardest bows to tiller for me ,and the tiller is still off i think . stats. rawhide backed cherry 72 tip to tip 30lbs at 24 inches. i tillered to my 28 inches to have a lil peace of mind for her shooting it.... on a side note i was constantly reminded while building this one of the old joke about the two rednecks that went fox hunting in england. good ol southern redneck like me building a elb, kind of like country goes to town.

Nice bow, no set, good old ELB I bet it shoots smooth and sweet.
That tiller doesn't look too bad at all, and if you've had it back to 28" I reckon you've done that bit of cherry proud, I'm sure she'll love it.

(So what's this joke about the two red necks fox hunting... or maybe it's not suitable for publication ;D)

Really not much wrong with the tiller, if at all...
Nice bow, no set, so it can't be too bad!

thanks guys the d belly was new to me , ok.. two rednecks win the lottery and after a lifetime of deer rabbit etc hunting they decided to go to england and fox hunt. well after about a half a day at the hunt this english gentleman rides up and says " say ol chaps when you see the fox its talley-ho not there goes the
blankity blank."!
all kidding aside i can trace my family back to a village in england around the 1750's , so maybe not such a stetch for an elb

You need to put a gizmo on those limbs. Real stiff out of the handle top and bottom for a foot or more, equally stiff about a foot in from both limb tips.
