just a simpel tiny longbow...
« on: April 30, 2010, 08:49:40 pm »
This longbow is made out of dogwood ,I like that wood a lot since the last sapling contest in our local board.
I planed to build a 70# longbow with a D profile but the stave had to many knots on one end and i decided to shorten the bow .
So , it turned out as a baby longbow , but with a D profile.
The bow is 66,5" long N/N
53 # @ 28 "
deer antler overlays

I had to heat treaten it a lot , it was everything else than a straight stave  ::)

later more pics.

It looks interesting. I know other folks are going to say this, so let me beat them to the punch: "Braced and full draw pics, please!" =)

For myself, I'd also be interested in a closer look at the antler overlays.

I like the looks of the bow a lot. Still need some more pics. Their appears to be a large hump at the transition of the nock overlay to the bow? For the draw weight and draw length I think the 66" is a better choice than the 70" anyway. Steve

@badger: yes ,there is a little hump on them, , but the overlays are really tiny ...it only looks like a huge hill ;) weight is 485 gramms netto

thats a 24" draw picture of that bow , I don't like to stress the selfbows to much just for a pic when I'm on my one , sorry guys.

thanks acker
