Any decent horn alternatives?
« on: April 26, 2010, 04:59:52 pm »
I'm looking for something that'll work a lot like horn...but isn't horn.  I'm wanting to build a horn bow for kicks but can't justify the cost of real horn.  I'm just wondering if there's anything out there...that isn't fiberglass...that works about the same.  I've heard bamboo, but it's about as easy to come across out here as horn lol

You can use Ipe wood as an alternative, but it wont be the same.
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes the reason is you made a bad decision.

Things never are when one skimps...but it's hard to win the money argument with the practical missus lol.

James Parker has made some fantastic "horn" type bows with tempered boo belly.
