a few stickers
« on: April 26, 2010, 03:07:10 am »
well i havent been doing a whole lot as of late
helping a guy make his first bow, working on one (well a few) myself.
prpapring for hunting season.
but i have found a little time to kanpp and what not.
so i made a few blades and did some hafting

hers a few,the one obsidion/osage knife is a gift for the land owner who lets me hunt year after year, spring and fall.
the rest are for trade and the like  ;)
both of the osage handled knifes are all natural.they are pine pitch and deer back strap sinew for the hafting, osage handles that are finished in bees wax(3 coats.one heated in two hand rubbed in).the larger obsidion blade with the blue sheen is on a hick handle with 6 coats of tongue oil and epoxy holding it together

the three in the middle are, coral on the left, keokuk on the right and not exactly sure what that other was(i knew but forgot, age thing  ;) )
the keokuk is the only one that still needs a handle.the coral blade is on curly maple, the little brownish one with the concrete is a hhb heartwood handle, the other is obsid/osage.not sure what i will use for finish on these three as of yet.
i have more to come yet ,heres the pics now

thanks for looking
i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"
i ride because i love to,not to be part of the crowd

Those are some fine looking blades!  Can't sleep waiting until 2 AM so I can head out for the classic.  Thanks for sharing your work.  They will make some new owners proud!  Joe

I like em all.  I like the obsidian one with the osage handle, in the last picture.   ;)
