(New Pictures) My Wifes Easter Gift
« on: April 27, 2010, 04:02:49 pm »
Here is one I finished earlier this month but am just now getting it posted. All sapwood black walnut. 38#@26". dyed purple with Rit and alcohol. It is 57" ntn. The handle wrap is just for now until I get a leather one laced on it.

cool Easter present!  Can't wait to see the rest of the pics.. I was planning on making one for my fiance and using the purple rit dye too.  It's her favorite color.  :)

Nice job. Great gift for your wife, too. We'll look at it again in a couple of days for April Self BOM fun.

Cool bow, and nice that your wife shoots with you. I really like the way Walnut responds to tools, and it sure smells nice too!!
Nice work !!!

Hey all, thanks for the nice words.
No Rich, I didn't do anything bad, just trying to share something I love with her and she is really getting interested in it now.
Josh, I think most guys use the powdered form of Rit, but I actually used the liquid and mixed it 2:1 dye:denatured alcohol. It seemed to work fine, and I will probably use it again (maybe not purple though).
