left on tiller tree

Hey All
Was checking tiller on a red oak bb. Looked close, accept for a bit of a hinge on one limb. Baseball was on...A couple of beers and 7 innings later I realized  that I had left the bow on the tree pulled at 28". It left about 1'-1 1/2" inch of set in the bow. been bout 2 hours now, no change, is this normal?

That way better than normal,that is not a good thing to do for sure. Was it on a tiller stick,I use a rope and pulley system once I get passed brace.I don't like to leave them over a few seconds when
I pull them out.I would say you are lucky that it didn't do more damage than it did.

Ron, I did a similiar thing with an osage bow a few years back-without the beer though. I was afraid I had wrecked it, then I read in a bowyers book somewhere about a guy who will leave a nearly finished bow braced around 21" for 30 minutes, the idea being it won't loose much poundage after it is shot awhile. Like yours, my bow had taken a bit of set; but on the other hand, it drew really smooth and I never had to wonder about it breaking when it hit full draw.

You gotta remember my definition of 'expert', it's the man who can put right his own mistakes.
So in this case, you put it right by simply saying the bow has been carefully  'conditioned'

no not 13-1/2 ".  Settled down this morn to bout 1' of set or less. I know I got lucky. Thank goodness I'm in Az, no humidity.

Well, at least I know that this one probably won't snap on me...Wheeeeeeew

lesson learned, no bow making when baseball is on!

yup only 1" of set,much better than 13" of set   

dude,not trying to be mean but you keep using the fooot symbol ( ' ) when i think what you want is the inch symbol ( " )

Bow is safe from set and myself.

BUT IF I HAD 13"+ OF SET, I'DE JUST PUT A HANDLE ON THE OTHER SIDE AND CALL IT MY 1ST REFLEX!!!LOL

lol wow a back tillered reflex redoak bow.

if you could pull that off you would officially be the world's luckeyest  bowyer.

glad your bow survived man. heck that thing has less set than my redoaks, and i didnt forget them on the tree lol.
