Re-finishing snakeskin
« on: April 18, 2010, 12:41:23 pm »
last year I put several light coats of minwax satin spray poly on an osage  with skins. a couple of spots on the skins are roughed up a bit. Do I just hit it with steel wool lightly, and redo the same, or would tru-oil fill it in better, or tru-oi then poly?
Thanks,
John

I would just use more Poly over it after Steel Wooling it...but the True Oil would build it up faster....just need to put enough on to make the Skins lay better...But I have noticed that the Tru Oil stays Softer...so it is more prone to scratching and denting than the Poly is.....so if I was using a Sealer like you ...I would stick to the Poly....JMO
