Straight bamboo composite reworked (Not for BOM...)
« on: April 18, 2010, 01:14:05 am »
Here are some pictures of a bamboo composite I had posted some time back; it's been reworked at the tips and handle and got a totally new dress. I gave it to my friend Sebastian today, but he still has to work himself up a bit to the 65#@29" this bow pulls...
It's bamboo back and belly, the core is vertical bamboo and black walnut sidestripes.
Thanks for looking...

Dang Frank, you sure make those tips nice and narrow. You're getting really good at that.

I really admire the wraps that you use, and your tips are something I should try to duplicate.

hey this is a nice boo back and belly bow,,,,,  you should try three to seven lams,,big difference in cast, hold of reflex, hand shock will be virtually non-existant.

Thanks Gordon, thanks Lombard, thanks robustus

@robustus: it has a cross section like a Japanese Yumi with; is that what you mean? Or really 5 layers between back and belly??

Frank, that is one, pretty bow. I've been wanting to do one like that, but lately can't find the time. Heck, I need to finish the six I have started, first.

That seems to be a very familiar situation around here, too...  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Eddie!

Awesome bow Frank.  Hard to tell from the pics but did you remove all the rind from the boo back?  All round just gorgeous!

Medicinewheel-

What did you use as the black wrappings, I am working on a yumi and thinking maybe black and yellow wrapping. Yours look great, heck the whole bow looks really damn good, also did you temper any of it?

Thanks again guys!

@HBDeluxe: The wrappings are  bit of linen fibers to get it pronounced and linen thread on top of that, died with permanganate and black leather dye.
The bamboo of belly and core is tempered, yes.
